 The view from the end of the stone pier is irresistible for a panoramic photographer! From here you can see the whole of the bay and harbour area, out to Portland Bay and beyond. Weymouth has the best sunshine record in England, even in winter!It rarely sees the snow and hard frost, being kept mildly temperate by its coastal position. It first became a fashionable and popular holiday resort in the time of King George III, who came here to bathe in the waters (using a bathing machine!) and who bought a holiday home here on the sea front (Gloucester Lodge).
