Weymouth UK: King George III statue, Weymouth
 This is the recently renovated statue of King George 3rd on the Esplanade at Weymouth.In 1789 King George III visited Weymouth to take a dip using one of the first ever bathing machines. He must have enjoyed his stay here, because he soon became a regular visitor to Weymouth. Indeed the chalk figure of horse and rider carved into the hill above Osmington is supposed to represent King George. In 1810, to show their gratitude for all he had done for the town, a statue of the king was erected in the centre of the seafront road, where St Mary Street and St Thomas Street meet.
