 Weymouth's sandy/shingly beach has sometimes been called "England's Bay of Naples". This largely unspoilt area is surrounded by beautiful coastal scenery, cliffs and gorgeous coutryside with rolling hills. The beach itself is central to the town centre and harbour area. It is sheltered and gently shelving, therefore popular with swimmers, including small children. Facilities include beach huts, toilets, cafes and restaurants, shops, deck chair hire, donkey rides and pedaloes.Dogs are not allowed on the main section of the beach between May and the end of September and the beach is cleaned daily. Many events are held on the beach throughout the year, including an International Kite Festival (May), Veteran vehicle and motorcycle rallies, handball and volleyball competeions, sailing championships.
